4 Ways to get More Flavor From Your Pod Mod

Easily, one of the most appealing aspects of a pod mod is the fact that it allows you to enjoy salt nicotine vape juices.  As we all know, salt-based nicotine is a lot more potent than freebase nicotine, which gives us an experience that reminds us of our old analogs.

Pod systems are far different from sub-ohm systems in just about every way, so vapers who have made the switch need to adjust to the fact that they’re not going to get the monstrous clouds that they’re used to.  Additionally, upon switching to a pod mod setup, a vaper’s flavor experience may be different as well.

However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a nice amount of vapor and a bold rich flavor from your pod system.  Today, we’ll be talking about what you can do to improve both your flavor and vapor games when using an open pod mod system.

Tip #1: Low battery life results in flavor and vapor loss

If there’s one thing that we can’t stress enough, it’s the importance of staying on top of your battery’s life.  Pod mod batteries are naturally lower in capacity than the big 18650 batteries that you’re used to with box mods.  This means that they need to be recharged more frequently.

Once a battery’s life begins to decrease, you’ll notice that both your flavor and vapor production weaken little by little.  So many pod mod users don’t realize that in most cases, both of these symptoms are a sign of a battery that’s in need of recharging.  Once that battery is in the yellow, so to speak, it’s time to plug in your device. Make sure to practice proper battery safety when changing these out.

Tip #2: Experiment with Different Coil Configurations

If you’re using an open pod system that allows you to experiment with different coil configurations, whether they are installed separately or built into the cartridges that come with the mod, we suggest trying out each one.

Most often, a pod system that comes with different coils has one that’s more capable of giving you bigger clouds and bigger flavor, while the other is more suitable for those who primarily care about a strong nicotine hit and throat hit.  The rule of thumb is that the lower the resistance of the coil, the more vapor it will produce, and more often than not, the bolder the flavor will be as well.

Tip #3: Change Your Pod Cartridges Regularly

A lot of us are guilty of trying to milk our pod cartridges until they’re as good as dead.  However, a pod cartridge is not intended to last for a very long time. Pod vapes need to be cleaned regularly. It’s important that you regularly stock up on replacement cartridges and install them as soon as your current cartridge is showing signs of losing its functionality.

Once your hits become inconsistent in terms of flavor and vapor production, you likely need to switch out your pod cartridge.  This is because the fiber wicks in the coil are no longer able to properly absorb the right amount of vape juice, and as a result, your vapor production and flavor suffer more and more as time goes on.

Tip #4: Increase Your Wattage Level

The last thing that you can do is play around with your wattage level.  We know that not every pod mod allows you to adjust the wattage level, but more and more systems that are being introduced onto the market do come with this feature.

As we’re sure you know, the output level of your device has a direct impact on both the flavor and vapor output of your mod.  The higher the wattage, the more flavor and vapor you’ll end up getting.  Just remember that higher wattages need lower coil resistance levels, so if you have a pod mod that comes with multiple coils, you might need to replace your coil as the wattage level increases.

A well-maintained pod system results in better flavor and more vapor

Vaping is all about finding that perfect balance between nicotine potency, delicious flavor and satisfying cloud production.  Just because you’re using a pod mod doesn’t mean that you need to settle for weak vapor and disappointing flavor.  Use this guide to make minor adjustments to your setup to improve both the taste and vapor production when using a pod system.
